With some people it is very clear that they have nothing to do with animals. But with 2.2 million dogs and 3.7 million cats in the Netherlands, there are also a lot of people who do.
Because we at PetSecur love dogs and cats, we think it would be nice to see if you as an owner recognize yourself in the stereotypes: dog person and cat person.
A dog person
For example, as a dog person, you seem to be extroverted, goal-oriented and orderly. At least more than cat people. You are also a lot more enterprising by nature because you go out with your dog every day. Go outside, go out. This may explain why you are more likely to live in a more rural area than in an urban environment. Just because you’re a real dog person doesn’t automatically mean you hate cats. Because in 67% of the cases that you see a defenseless kitten in the bushes, you call the animal ambulance. In terms of music taste, you may be more likely to put on reggae or (psychedelic) rock than electronic music. And when you share a photo of you with your four-legged friend, it will often show joy and pride.
A cat person
As a cat person, you are often a creative person and you are more likely to go on an active holiday than to a five-star hotel. In general, you are also a sensitive person and express your emotions easily. Unlike the dog people, you are more likely to live in an urban area. That’s not surprising, of course, because your cat doesn’t have to go outside a few times a day either. When friends ask you to babysit for a weekend, you would rather do it for that friend’s children than for the dog. That’s very funny. And by definition, you don’t automatically hate dogs either, but where the dog person calls the animal ambulance, you are more likely to take the defenseless kitten home yourself. In terms of music, you often put on new wave music or electronic music and if you see or can make a pun somewhere, you can laugh very hard about it.
Similarities between dog person and cat person
Not everyone can be captured in the characteristics described, because there are also things that both dog people and cat people have in common. You both talk to your animals. You both love nature and don’t like clothes with animal prints.
The most generic assumption is that the preference for a dog or a cat comes from childhood experience. Because if you grew up with a dog, there is a good chance that you will get a dog yourself later on. And that also applies to cats.
Of course, no rights can be derived from these characteristics, because you care about your animal like no one else does!
